Even when it's very bright outside, it's dark in the markets. This is the Russian Market, so-called because in the 1980s when the Soviets were giving Cambodia substantial foreign aid, all sorts of Russian-made goods were available here. Now it's known for its silk shops and for its western clothing--the Russian Market gets a lot of products out of Cambodia's garment factories. Cambodia has excellent labor standards for a developing nation, so there's a lot of garment manufacturing by companies that want to be seen as responsible.
